lyrics

The chandelier swings with every concussive hit
And we dance to the recorded joy of expiring talent
Astrid has taken up smoking, and so has the skyline
General panic, but you're all that's on my mind

The ashes are swirling, but we try to stay composed
Garret's in his new suit and he's sipping while he sweats
And we take fleeting comfort in what little time left
But the bartender only sees ghosts

And you've got that end of the world glow
I'm the last you'll barely know
and if it's over in a flash, too good to last
Then at least...

Now Garret and Donna, their dance is turning horizontal
Bartender whistles and takes a pull from the bottle
Astrid is laughing as she throws away her phone
She's finding peace in being so exquisitely alone

And on a warped balcony, we make our final memories
Our bonfire crackles in the Winter breeze
You clasp my hand and whisper those elusive words
The sun is eclipsed, but you've got that end of the world glow

You wouldn't want me if I were the last alive
But instead, I'm your best of nine

You've got that end of the world glow
I'm the last you'll barely know
And if it's over in a flash, too good to last
Then at least our shadows will be together captured on the wall
